Lead Barista
The Role
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Lead Barista to own the coffee program at our West Concord location. This is not just a behind-the-bar role. You set the standard for espresso quality, lead and train the barista team, and bring creative energy to our seasonal drink offerings.
Reporting to the Assistant Cafe Manager, you are the resident coffee expert at ELK West Concord. You take pride in consistency, love teaching others, and care deeply about the guest experience from first sip to last. As ELK grows, there is real opportunity for this role to expand to our Bedford location as well.
Responsibilities
Bar Quality and Standards
- Maintain espresso quality, consistency, and presentation standards on every shift
- Dial in espresso daily and adjust for seasonal and batch changes
- Ensure all bar equipment is clean, calibrated, and functioning properly
- Monitor drink quality across the team and coach in the moment when standards slip
- Uphold cafe cleanliness and organization at the bar station at all times
Training and Development
- Onboard and train all new baristas on ELK's drink recipes, techniques, and standards
- Build and maintain barista training materials and recipe guides
- Run ongoing skills development for the barista team, including milk technique, latte art, and menu knowledge
- Conduct regular check-ins with barista staff and surface feedback to the Assistant Cafe Manager
Menu and Seasonal Development
- Develop and propose seasonal drink menu changes in collaboration with management
- Bring creative, trend-informed ideas for specialty beverages that align with ELK's food identity and brand
- Execute new drink rollouts including staff training and recipe documentation
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date drink menus and signage
Operations
- Open and close the bar station according to established procedures
- Manage coffee and bar supply inventory; communicate ordering needs to management
- Assist with cafe floor coverage and guest service as needed
- Contribute to weekly team meetings and bring forward ideas or concerns
What We're Looking For
- At least 2 years of specialty coffee or cafe barista experience
- Strong espresso and milk technique with a genuine passion for coffee craft
- Prior experience training or leading a team preferred
- Detail-oriented and consistent, with high personal standards
- Creative thinker who stays curious about coffee trends and seasonal flavors
- Reliable, organized, and a strong communicator
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Flexible availability including mornings, weekends, and holidays

Assistant Cafe Manager
The Role
We are looking for a hospitality-driven Assistant Cafe Manager to own day-to-day front-of-house operations across both ELK locations in Bedford and West Concord. This is a floor-first leadership role. You run great shifts, coach staff in the moment, and make sure every guest leaves well taken care of.
Reporting to the General Manager, you are responsible for FOH staff training, scheduling, and daily service quality at both locations. You lead by example, hold a high standard, and develop the people around you.
Responsibilities
- Service and Floor Management
- Lead daily FOH operations across both Bedford and West Concord locations
- Coach staff during service to uphold ELK's hospitality and product standards
- Fill in on the floor as needed to ensure smooth, guest-focused service
- Monitor product quality and display standards throughout the day and correct anything that falls short
- Handle guest concerns with good judgment
- Close service periods when needed, including tip distribution and cash handling
- Staff Training and Development
- Own the onboarding and training process for all new FOH hires
- Build and execute training plans with clear milestones and regular check-ins
- Run ongoing education for FOH staff: daily briefings, menu knowledge, steps of service
- Conduct regular performance check-ins with hourly FOH staff
- Surface development opportunities and staff concerns to the General Manager
- Scheduling
- Write and manage weekly FOH schedules for both locations in coordination with the General Manager
- Balance coverage against labor cost targets
- Manage time-off requests and availability with adequate lead time
- Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready front of house at all times
- Communicate menu changes and updates to the FOH team clearly and in real time
- Assist with inventory and supply ordering as directed
- Attend weekly management meetings
- What We're Looking For
- At least 3 years of FOH experience in a cafe, bakery, or restaurant
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Strong training and coaching skills
- Highly organized with reliable follow-through
- Comfortable working across two locations
- Proficient with scheduling and POS systems; Square and Homebase experience a plus
- Flexible availability including weekends and holidays
- Genuine passion for food, coffee, and hospitality

- Base salary: $45,000 to $55,000 per year, based on experience

Barista/Bakery Counter Staff
What you will do:
As a Front of House Counter Staff team member, you will play a pivotal role in creating a positive and hospitable customer experience. Your main responsibility will be to ensure efficient and effective counter service, handle transactions, and interact clearly with customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
Eva’s Little Kitchen offers a comfortable work environment and extensive training in each position. Employees will gain valuable service experience working at the front line of a cafe environment while acting as an ambassador for our company, and providing a high level of hospitality to customers.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers with a warm and welcoming demeanor as they enter the bakery/cafe.
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, providing recommendations and describing menu items as needed.
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages to the highest quality standards.
- Assist with preparing and serving bakery items, such as pastries, sandwiches, and desserts.
- Handle cash and electronic transactions securely and accurately using our point-of-sale system.
- Maintain a clean and organized counter area, ensuring a visually appealing and sanitary environment.
- Regularly restock items at the counter and bakery display to ensure products are always available.
- Respond to customer inquiries, address concerns, and resolve complaints in a professional manner.
- Uphold company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with other team members to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Participate in periodic team meetings and training sessions to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role or barista experience is preferred, but not mandatory. Willingness to learn and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service is essential.
- A customer-oriented and friendly attitude with the ability to engage and connect with customers effectively.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently and maintain an orderly work area.
- Attention to detail in processing orders, handling transactions, and ensuring accurate inventory management.
- A commitment to cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing demands.
- Availability to arrive to work as early as 7AM
- Availabilty to work on weekends, holidays, and occasional evening shifts.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- We ask that you have availability for 3-4 shifts a week. We are looking for part-timem or full-time availability, 25-30 hours per week.
- Applicants must be enthusiastic, hard-working, possess strong guest service skills, eager to learn, and be able to work in a professional kitchen environment.

- Previous cafe counter staff, barista, or restaurant front-of-the-house experience is helpful, but not mandatory.
